Match what people can make happen with what the work needs.

Reel starts with real conversations about what people do, what they can make happen, and how their work is changing with AI. The more we understand about people and the work, the better we can match the two.

Work with Reel

A few ways to work with Reel.

Companies can commission Reel Work Signals when a product, research, hiring, or workforce decision depends on understanding the work in practice. Individuals can share how their work is changing through separate, invite-only studies, and can still book the original Reel Conversation.

For companies

Reel Work Signals

$25,0006 weeks

A company-paid engagement for one team and one live product, hiring, work-design, or workforce decision. Reel combines the information you already have with structured conversations with the people closest to the work.

You get a Work Map, written synthesis, executive briefing, working session, and handoff so your people can keep the picture current.

For invited study participants

Share how your work is changing

Paid if invitedInvite only

This is separate from the company-paid Work Signals engagement. Each study looks for people with specific experience related to the question. If that's you, Reel may invite you to a structured conversation about what you do, how your work is changing, and what your title or company systems may not show.

If invited to a study, participants are paid for their time and receive a Work Signal Snapshot. The conversation contributes to findings for the research partner and may also inform public reporting. You'll know how the information can be used before you agree.

For individuals

The Reel Conversation

$39960 minutes + follow-up

Sometimes your career makes more sense when you can talk it through with someone who knows how to listen and connect the dots. Clients say they leave feeling heard, understood, and clearer about how to talk about their work.

You leave with a professional profile about how you work, a rewritten resume, interview prep, social copy, and a 30-minute follow-up, all in language that sounds like you. Clients have used the work in interviews and job searches.

What better matching needs

The way we match people to work is missing information on both sides.

We should match people based on what they can make happen, how they make people feel, where they thrive, and what the business actually needs them to make happen.

Understand the person

More than a resume

  • What they can reliably do and make happen
  • The judgment, context, and evidence behind it
  • How they work, what they value, and where they thrive
  • What they want to do next, not only what they have done before
Understand the work

More than a job description

  • The outcomes and problems the business needs solved
  • How customers, teammates, or stakeholders should experience the work
  • The context, relationships, and tradeoffs involved
  • What success requires now, not the last time the role was hired
Reel Work Signals

Understand the work before you make the next decision.

When a product, research, hiring, or workforce decision depends on understanding the work in practice, start with the people closest to it. Work Signals combines the information you already have with structured conversations and turns the gaps into a clear Work Map for one decision.

The study can help you decide
  • What the team is accountable for now, beyond the role and org chart
  • What work, judgment, dependencies, and capability are changing
  • What the formal workforce information leaves out
  • Whether the next move is to hire, redesign, automate, redeploy, develop, or protect
What you get$25,000
  • One team and one live product, hiring, work-design, or workforce decision
  • Structured conversations with the people closest to the work, alongside the information you already have
  • A Work Map showing what is happening now, what is changing, and what is needed next
  • A written synthesis with the clearest patterns, evidence, and implications
  • An executive briefing and working session for the people making the decision
  • A practical handoff so internal owners can keep the map current, completed within 6 weeks of kickoff

Why Reel starts with conversations

I knew Reel was worth building after the first three conversations.

In October 2025, I had a free afternoon in the city and asked LinkedIn if anyone wanted to test a conversation-based approach to hiring. Fifteen people volunteered. I could only meet with three, so we made plans for a coffee shop the next day.

The next day brought one of the biggest downpours I'd ever seen in New York. Subways flooded. It was all over the news. All three people still showed up. Two of them hugged me afterward. I'll never forget it.

Those first conversations made the idea real. People shared context, judgment, and capability that had never made it onto the page of a resume. Reel has kept learning from conversations ever since. Now I'm testing how that information can help companies understand changing work and make better workforce and matching decisions.

Building Reel in public

Have feedback, a question, or a way you want to get involved?

I'm learning from people doing the work and companies trying to figure out what comes next. If you want to participate, explore a partnership, share feedback, or see whether Work Signals could help with a decision, tell me what you're thinking.
